[Wierd] Fashion - Ganguro Girls

Even though this fad came out a lil while back , it caught my attention. I would say this style is a mixture of the circus meets the mickey mouse club.
Ganguro is an alternative fashion trend among young Japanese women which peaked in popularity around the year 2000, but remains evident today. The Shibuya and Ikebukuro districts of Tokyo are the center of ganguro fashion. In ganguro fashion, a deep tan is combined with hair dyed in shades of orange to blonde, or a silver gray known as “high bleached”. Black ink is used as eyeliner and white concealer is used as lipstick and eyeshadow. False eyelashes, plastic facial gems, and pearl powder are often added to this. Platform shoes and brightly-colored outfits complete the ganguro look. Also typical of ganguro fashion are tie-dyed sarongs, miniskirts, stickers on the face, and lots of bracelets, rings, and necklaces.

Karl Kani celebrates 20th anniversary

Self-acclaimed 'Godfather of Urban Fashion', Karl Kani, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the brand with his new collection for Fall/Winter 2009.
The Karl Kani Fall/Winter 2009 collection draws inspiration from "the fabulous Hip Hop lifestyle" and employs diamonds to amplify it. Karl Kani magnifies the visual aesthetic of a diamond by creating bold and asymmetric patterns on his gear, for instance by mixing the solid diamond shaped lines with perforated leather.

Karl Kani, the first to use hip hop artists, like 2Pac, Notorious BIG, Nas, P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg and Redman, in advertisement campaigns, pays homage to the past by creating sepia and black & white all-over prints with images that point back to the heritage of the brand. Dollar prints and golden embroideries conceptualize a luxurious effect.

Key pieces include the diamond all-over zip hoody and T-shirt. Using a degrade print, Karl Kani's positive message is used all-over on sweat suits, shirts, backpacks, caps, wallets and dogtags.
